One of the most beneficial and rewarding aspects of the Dignity & Respect Campaign is centered on Tip 29 Lend a Hand. Whether it’s, helping a neighbor or neighborhood organization rake leaves or shovel snow, donating items you no longer use or wear, or volunteering at a shelter, it is usually the little things you do that can make a huge difference in someone’s life.
Lend A Hand
Join us in organization Lend A Hand activities in November and December, then again in April and May.
1- Select an organization
2- Go it alone, gather a few friends, or colleagues
3- Donate time or items that meet the needs of the person or organization you selected.
Below are some examples of how you can Lend A hand. The Dignity & Respect Campaign encourages you to participate in:
■ Days of Service Non-profits, schools, food banks, shelters, faith-based organizations, or community organizations are often looking for help for members of the community. Participate in an existing day of service, paint a room, plant a garden, or participate in a community clean-up drive.
■ Donation Days Collect can goods, books, gently worn items, or checks from family members, friends, and colleagues to be donated to a person, family, or organization of your choice.
■ Volunteer Help a neighbor with a project, read a book to young people or seniors, mentor a student or colleague, or serve on a local community board.
